Heart patient Quentin Holt married his high school sweetheart Narkita Dobson on Friday.
NASHVILLE, Tenn. -
Heart patient Quentin Holt married his high school sweetheart Narkita Dobson on Friday at the Monroe Carell Jr. Children's Hospital at Vanderbilt.
Holt has had two heart transplants at Vanderbilt, the first when he was 13 months old. The second was just 6 years ago.
He came back to the hospital this week due to his body rejecting the second heart.
The couple had already planned their wedding for Friday, one year to the day Quentin proposed, so doctors, nurses and staff quickly planned the ceremony for the hospital's chapel.
"We always talked about getting married, because I didn't want to be with no one else and she didn't want to be with nobody else," Holt told Nashville's News 2.
His mother, Brenda Furlow Holt, wiped away tears as her son repeated the vows.
"Today is a marvelous day, something I didn't think I would ever see. Something I didn't think he'd ever do," she said. "Our son has been sick since the day he was born, two weeks into the world."
Concerned that he might not be able to stand for the entire ceremony, a wheelchair was waiting nearby, but Holt didn't need it.
He told News 2 that he was too excited to sit down.
Quentin remains a patient at the hospital.
The couple said they are saving money to take a honeymoon cruise next year.
