Love the Dress! holds 2nd annual prom dress swap

Posted:
FRANKLIN, Tenn. -

A local non-profit will hold its second annual prom dress swap and shop in Franklin on Saturday.

Since December, the organization has collected dozens of gowns at dress drives held at high schools throughout Williamson and Maury counties.

Teri Black founded Love the Dress! last year and the organization distributed more than 150 gowns to girls in need at its inaugural event.

"If you donate a dress, you get one in exchange for free," Black explained.  "If you do not have a dress to donate, you buy one for $20."

She continued, "Just to know some girls who couldn't afford to go to prom unless they came here and got a dress, I mean that just really touches my heart."

Saturday's event is open to anyone in Middle Tennessee.  They currently have more than 300 dresses in a variety of styles and sizes to choose from.

"They all had dress drives, we had great collections, we had drop off sites throughout the county [and] it's been a wonderful thing for the community and the girls they're all excited about it," Black continued.

Love the Dress! will also have shoes, purses and other accessories to give away.

Dresses in new or in good condition can also still be donated.

Saturday's event is from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Full Life Assembly of God located at 813 Oak Meadow Drive in Franklin.
