NASHVILLE, Tenn. -
Restaurant Depot opened its first Tennessee facility in east Nashville on Wednesday.
The new wholesale retailer offers the highest quality of fresh, frozen and dry foods, as well as beverage, paper goods and cleaning supplies.
"If you compare are prices you will find we will lower the cost of operating for every restaurant owner and operator in the Nashville market," explained Restaurant Depot branch manager Gary Dawes.
Currently the national chain store has 90 stores across the country and employees around 45 people at its Mid-State location.
"Ninety-six percent of the jobs that we put in, including the leadership roles, are all hired from the Nashville [area] and surrounding communities," Dawes said.
As part of the wholesale store's grand opening celebration, Restaurant Depot donated $5,000 worth of produce to Second Harvest Food Bank.
"We have been trying to bring in more fresh produce into our community and introduce that into the diets of our neighbors here," Jaynee Day of Second Harvest Food Bank said.
Restaurant Depot is located at 111 Oldham Street, near LP Field.
Membership to the retailer is free and open to all business owners and non-profit organizations.
