NASHVILLE, Tenn. -

A Davidson County jury deliberated for just under an hour before finding Stephen Hernandez guilty in the 2010 beating death of Tommy Lee Perkins.

Perkins' body was discovered in the early morning hours of September 7, 2010, on Brick Church Pike, near the Ravin Motel where he lived.

He had been repeatedly kicked and punched in the head.

When Hernandez was arrested, he had bruised knuckles and a swollen hand.

Police said Hernandez and another man approached Perkins, 48, on foot to rob him.

Hernandez was found guilty of felony murder and facilitation of aggravated robbery.

His first degree murder conviction carries a life sentence of at least 51 years.

He will be sentenced on the other charge on March 2.

A trial date has not yet been set for his co-defendant, Justin Brummett.
