Metro officers arrested a man early Wednesday morning accused in a plot to bring 700 pounds of marijuana to Middle Tennessee.

Police booked Charles Wayne Ivey into the Metro jail just after 1 a.m.

According to Metro police, officers with the local drug task force watched the marijuana move within 1,000 feet of Father Ryan High School and other schools last week.

Police intercepted the drug shipment and believe Ivey was the intended recipient as the senior distributor in the operation.

Ivey is alleged to have stored the illegal drug in various Nashville stash houses.

At the time of his arrest, Ivey was on probation for a 2007 felony cocaine charge.

Teresa Kay Joplin, 51, and Spencer Del Vermuele, 48, both of Arizona are also arrested on felony marijuana charges.

Police said the arrests come after a year long investigation and the investigation remains active.

In addition to the marijuana, officers also seized five vehicle, a travel trailer and more than $20,000 in cash.
