Gunman opens fire during south Nashville robbery attempt

NASHVILLE, Tenn. -

Metro police are investigating an attempted robbery that led to a shooting late Tuesday night in south Nashville.

Investigators said a man and woman were walking from their car to an apartment at the Southbrook Apartments on Linbar Drive around 10:45 p.m. when a man with a gun approached them.  The gunman had a shirt over his face.

The robber demanded money, fired one shot into the air and shot the woman in the leg.

She was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The suspect is described as a black man with a light complexion and dreadlocks.

He is believed to be 20 to 25 years old and between five feet, nine inches and six feet tall, weighing about 160 pounds.

He was last seen in a black shirt and house shoes running from the apartment

A possible suspect vehicle is an older model white Chevrolet Monte Carlo.  The license plate No. starts with 197.

The vehicle was last seen traveling on Haywood Lane toward Interstate 24 with five occupants inside.

Anyone with information is urged to call Metro police or Crime Stoppers at 74-CRIME.
