Jackson teen indicted in fatal shooting

JACKSON, Tenn. (AP) - A grand jury in Jackson has indicted a teen held in jail since a homicide and an attempted homicide in October.

Jackson Police Chief Gill Kendirick stated in a news release that 18-year-old Tray Chaney was formally charged Monday with first-degree murder and attempted first-degree murder, among other charges, according to The Jackson Sun.

Investigators said Chaney rammed a car being driven by his former girlfriend on Oct. 11 and then got out and fatally shot Daphne Rose Kenner.

He is also charged with shooting and wounding Kenneth Price, who was a passenger in Kenner's car.

Police said as Chaney fled, he crashed his car and then carjacked a couple, taking their van.

A police chase ended at Chaney's residence, where he was captured after exchanging gunfire with officers.
