The potential sale comes just weeks after an announcement of the partnership between Gaylord Entertainment and the Dollywood Company to open a new theme park across the street from the church.
However, Fellowship at Two Rivers lead pastor Matt Surber told Nashville's News 2 the new coming attraction had nothing to do with the church's decision to put the property up for sale, but rather the church's desire to build smaller churches throughout Nashville.
"We really feel like we want to take the message of the Gospel to communities around Nashville instead of asking everyone to come to us," said Surber.
The church hopes to build three to five locations in and around the Nashville area. Selling the massive property would allow the church to expand.
The church already plans to open a second location in Mt. Juliet on April 1.
"It could be a great springboard for allowing us to go into these different communities," Surber explained.
Just a few years ago, the church sold a portion of their land to Gaylord Entertainment.
However, Surber said that they have not had any discussions with the company about the sale of their property.
"I think the proximity to Gaylord [Opryland] and potential new amusement and water park development that they have going on will probably draw a lot of interest to this property," said Surber.
There have been no offers made on the property.
"Obviously being the property adjacent to it [the new attraction] it's a positive thing for us whether it be Gaylord, whether it be another developer [to purchase the land]," Surber told Nashville's News 2.
The value of the church property is unknown at this time.
