Family spared after east Nashville house fire

NASHVILLE, Tenn. -

A family is safe after their home was destroyed by fire Saturday night.

It happened around 9:15 p.m. on Neill Avenue in east Nashville.

A man and his wife lived in the home. He was home at the time of the fire.

When responders arrived, he was suffering from smoke inhalation, but did not need medical treatment.

The cause of the fire was still under investigation.

The home was badly damaged. It is expected to be a total loss. The Red Cross was assisting the family.
