NASHVILLE, Tenn. -

A fund has been set up to benefit a Metro police officer who was injured while in the line of duty.

Officer Brent Hoadley was struck by a car and critically injured on January 7 while directing traffic around a crash on Murfreesboro Pike in Donelson.

Donations to The Brent Hoadley Fund can be made at the MPD Community Credit Union located at 2711 Old Lebanon Road.

Hoadley's family is asking for donations in lieu of flowers.

Anyone wanting to send well wishes to Hoadley in his time of recovery can send them to the Hermitage precinct in his name at 3701 James Kay Lane.

Hoadley, a six year veteran of the Metro Police Department, was released from Vanderbilt University Medical Center last week.

Police are continuing to investigate the accident which left Hoadley with injuries to his legs, mouth, jaw and teeth.

The driver of the vehicle that struck Hoadley said he suffers from a blood sugar condition and doesn't know what happened.
