GALLATIN, Tenn. -

A Sumner County man was taken into custody after he acted as a concert promoter and sold hundreds of tickets to a concert that was never scheduled to be held in Dickson.

According to authorities, 58-year-old Ronald Higdon claimed to be selling tickets for an upcoming concert at the Renaissance Center featuring Michael Twitty, son of country music legend Conway Twitty.

Officials for the Renaissance Center said the concert was never scheduled and they had not authorized Higdon to act in their behalf.

Nashville's News 2 Investigates obtained investigative tapes between Higdon and a source working with the Sheriff's Department.

On the tape, Higdon is heard clearly saying he has already sold around 200 tickets so far and that the venue seats 450.

"I think that [the remaining tickets] will go this week, because pay day is Friday, you know. I am not worried about it. I talked to my brother last night and he has about 65 or 70 [people coming to buy tickets]," Higdon said.

Deputies arrested Higdon on Wednesday afternoon in a Gallatin parking lot.

He remains in jail on charges of theft over $500.

Higdon's wife, Brenda, who was present at the time of his arrest, was also taken into custody after she reportedly attacked one of the sheriff's deputies.

Nashville's News 2 attempted to obtain a comment from the Twitty family regarding the incident, but were unsuccessful.

Anyone who purchased a fraudulent concert ticket is urged to contact the Sumner County Sheriff's Department at 615-452-2616.
