Former Vanderbilt employee charged with stealing funds
Jason Hunt, 34, was arrested Friday in Montgomery County, Arkansas.
NASHVILLE, Tenn. -
A former Vanderbilt University employee was arrested last week in Montgomery County, Arkansas on a charge he stole $600,000 from university's law school.
Federal marshals arrested Jason Hunt last Friday. He will be returned to Nashville to face the charge.
The university began its investigation into Hunt in October after it received information of possible misuse of law school funds.
After wrapping up its investigation, university officials contacted the district attorney general's office, which began its own investigation in late November.
Hunt, 34, worked as an administrative services manager for the law school. His employment has since been terminated and as a result of the case, the university strengthened its controls to prevent a similar situation in the future.
Hunt is being held in the Montgomery County jail on a $1 million bond pending extradition to Tennessee.
