NASHVILLE, Tenn. -

A lawsuit has been filed on behalf of a man who was beaten and tasered by deputies and police in Humphreys County last year.

Attorney David Raybin filed the suit at the Federal Courthouse in Nashville Friday morning.

Raybin is representing Darrin Ring, of Waverly, who was spent five months behind bars after he was savagely beaten after being stripped of all his clothes last January.

The incident was captured on dash cam video shows deputies repeatedly hitting him with their batons, punching him with their fists and kicking him as he lie naked in the snow.

Ring suffered multiple fractured ribs, a punctured lung and contusions over his body as a result.

The lawsuit, filed against Humphreys County and the City of Waverly in addition to Humphreys County Sheriff Chris Davis, Humphreys County deputies Timothy Hedge, James P. McCord and James B. Lee, and Waverly police officers Joseph Parnell and Kinta Bell, asks that Ring be awarded "those damages to which he may appear that he is entitled by proof submitted in this case for his physical and mental pain and suffering both past and future, loss of enjoyment of life, and the violation of his rights guaranteed to him" by the Constitution.

The suit also asks for punitive damages against the individuals involved.
