NASHVILLE, Tenn. -
A big crowd gathered at Santa's shoe shop for the third annual "Soles for Souls" event.
The doors opened at 8 a.m. on Saturday at First Church Unity in Nashville where families gathered to meet Santa and pick up a pair of shoes.
The cold weather did not keep people from arriving early as some showed up at 5:30 a.m.
One thousand shoes were donated by Soles for Souls and the rest were donated by the community.
The spokesperson of the shoe drive, Sybil Spaulding, told Nashville's News 2 they gave away 1,500 pairs of shoes last year and they expect a bigger turnout this season.
Santa showed up at the event with dolls, books and DVDs for the children at the shoe drive.
