NASHVILLE, Tenn. -

The Metro Public Health Department announced on Wednesday they will begin providing flu shots free of charge to walk in patients.

The free vaccination will be available at all three health clinic locations.

The shots will be given Monday through Friday at East Health Center located at 1015 East Trinity Lane and Woodbine Health Center located at 224 Oriel Avenue from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m.

At the Lentz Health Center, located at 311 23rd Avenue North, the vaccines will be offered from 8 a.m. until 11 a.m. and from 12:30 p.m. to 4 p.m.

The Centers for Disease Control recommends everyone six-months of age and older to receive the shot each year since it offers the best protection against influenza.

Health officials also stress that it is especially important for certain groups, such as pregnant women, those who suffer from certain chronic medical conditions or those who live in a nursing home or long-term care facility to receive the shot.
