HENDERSONVILLE, Tenn. -

A second person has died from injuries sustained in last week's multiple-vehicle collision that involved more than 100 cars on Vietnam Veterans Boulevard in Hendersonville.

Hendersonville police said James Ziegler, 62, of Old Hickory, was not transported to the hospital following the accident and drove his car from the scene following the investigation.

Ziegler died on Friday.

Police said they are awaiting the final autopsy report from the state medical examiner's office.

A 28-year-old newly wed from Hendersonville also died in the wreck.

Paul Warren graduated from Hendersonville High School in 2002 and got married less than two months ago.

The accident is still under investigation by the Hendersonville Police Department.

Heavy, dense fog in the area is likely to blame, although icing conditions on the roadway likely contributed.

The pileup involved four separate crash scenes and spanned more than a mile.

The first crash was reported shortly after 7 a.m. in the eastbound lanes of Vietnam Vets at the exit to Saundersville Road, exit 8.  The interchange is located about 20 miles northeast of Nashville in Sumner County.

A total of 174 vehicles were in some way impacted by the pileup.  Forty-five cars were damaged.

Sixteen people were transported to area hospitals with injuries.

The eastbound lanes of Vietnam Veterans were shutdown for a majority of the day.
