Rotarians fill boxes of food for needy families

NASHVILLE, Tenn. -

Members of the Rotary Club of Nashville spent the morning Saturday filling boxes at the Second Harvest Food Bank of Middle Tennessee for the 10th annual Feed the Need project.

"No child in Nashville should go to bed hungry and no family in Nashville should go without food," Joyce Vise, a member of the Rotary Club of Nashville, told Nashville's News 2.

Members, or Rotarians, and their families filled boxes with canned good and non-perishable items for needy families in the Watkins Park area.

On December 17, more than 75 Rotarians will help deliver the boxes.

"When you take those boxes out to the families and you see the faces and you see the hardships, it really gives you a great feeling especially this time of year to actually give back," said Danny Simmerman, Chair of the Feed the Need project.

Since last year, Second Harvest Food Bank of Middle Tennessee has experienced a 25% increase in emergency food assistance in Davidson County alone.
