At least three Mid-State school districts have opted to close early Tuesday ahead of anticipated strong to severe storms.
Bedford County Schools are closing two hours early, Giles County schools are closing two and a half hours early and in Marshall County, schools are closing at 12 Noon.
The greatest severe weather threat in Middle Tennessee exists Tuesday afternoon through the evening hours.
The National Weather Service's Storm Prediction Center has placed Nashville and communities south to Jackson, Mississippi in the strongest threat category.
Damaging straight line winds are possible in addition to large hail and heavy rains. The threat also includes the risk of an isolated tornado.
Ahead of the cold front, temperatures Tuesday will be in the 70s thanks to a strong south wind.
