Armed suspect with tear drop tattoo robs gas station
The suspect is a white male with a tear drop tattoo next to his right eye.
A K9 unit searched behind the store for the suspect for several hours but the trail went cold.
NASHVILLE, Tenn. -
Metro police are searching for a man who robbed a Nashville gas station at gunpoint early Tuesday morning.
The unmasked suspect walked into the Citgo gas station located at 500 Main Street, near South Fifth Street, in east Nashville at 1 a.m. and showed his weapon.
The suspect was clearly captured on surveillance video. At least four people were inside the store at the time.
Police said the suspect took $200 to $300 and fled behind the store.
A K9 unit searched the area for several hours but the trail went cold.
Police said the incident was likely a crime of opportunity.
"The business does have the capability of keeping the doors locked," Capt. Preston Brandimore told Nashville's News 2. "It does have an outer window. In this situation, the business was open. The doors were unlocked, as typical, as you would go to any gas station."
Police said the suspect is a white male in his 20s with a teardrop tattoo next to his right eye and sandy brown hair.
He is approximately 5'8" tall with an average build was last seen wearing a hooded sweatshirt.
No one was hurt in the robbery.
