CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. -

Synthetic drugs are to blame for a crash Saturday night that injured two teens in Clarksville.

The wreck was reported around 9 p.m. in the 400 block of Greenwood Avenue.

Clarksville police said officers arrived on the scene to find the 17-year-old driver and his 18-year-old passenger still inside the vehicle and unresponsive.

The two regained consciousness and got out of the vehicle after it caught fire and an officer used her baton to break out the driver's side window.

When questioned about the crash, the 17-year-old told officers that he and his passenger purchased Pyara, a synthetic drug, from a store in Oak Grove, Kentucky, and that he was "high" and "stoned."

Both teens were transported to Gateway Medical Center in Clarksville for minor injuries.

The juvenile was cited for DUI.
