Mary Faye Morrow, 63 is charged with theft over $80,000, two counts of official misconduct, forgery and tampering with government records.
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. -
The former finance director for the city of Winchester was taken into custody on Tuesday after being indicted by a grand jury on theft, forgery and misconduct charges.
Mary Faye Morrow, of Huntland, Tennessee, about 110 miles east of Nashville, is charged with theft over $80,000, two counts of official misconduct, forgery and tampering with government records.
The 63-year-old woman left the finance director position in July of 2010, but officials said she continued working in the office through the end of the year.
The new finance director took note of the amount of money coming into the system and the district attorney general requested that the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation open a case on the missing funds in July 2011.
An audit was conducted as part of the investigation.
Morrow was booked into the Franklin County jail.
She has since been released on a $10,000 bond.
