More and more retailers have decided to open their doors earlier the day after Thanksgiving for shoppers to take advantage of Black Friday sales.
For the first time ever Target and Macy's will join several other stores in opening their doors at Midnight.
Joy Yancey is the store team leader at a Nashville area Target store.
She told Nashville's News 2 shoppers will benefit from the store opening four hours earlier than in years past.
"[We are] super excited about getting those extra four hours of sales and we really want to see those early birds that we haven't got to see in years past," she said.
Macy's officials told Nashville's News 2 they also will open their doors earlier than usual at its 800 stores across the country.
The retailer has a Web site dedicated to its first ever Midnight Madness to show off dozens of promotional sale items that will be available.
Kohl's will also open at Midnight on Black Friday.
Recent history shows 2004 as the strongest year in a decade with a holiday sales increase of nearly 6%.
