Four anchor stores are scheduled to reopen at Opry Mills Mall just in time for the holiday shopping season.Regal Cinemas, Dave & Buster's, VF Outlet and Sun and Ski Sport will join Bass Pro Shops, which reopened last year after the mall was destroyed by the historic flood of 2010.It can't come soon enough for Bass Pro Shops, the lone tenant at the mall since last September.
Greg Cole is the general manager for Bass Pro Shops. He told Nashville's News 2 they're looking forward to welcoming other stores to the mall. "We're missing that husband bringing their wife out for dinner and movie and that kind of thing," Cole said. The flood ravaged mall closed in May 2010. The rebuilding process is underway and the entire mall is set to open March 29, 2012. "We're really excited. Anything to bring us more traffic," Cole said. Despite being the only retailer at the mall, Cole says business has been steady. Sales were up last holiday season, 3% to 4% over the previous year.Bass Pro Shops has begun decorating for the holidays and says many customers are starting their Christmas shopping. Cole said he hopes the additional stores boost sales.Dave & Buster's and Regal Opry Mills have already begun the hiring process.
Anyone interested in applying for a job can do so at the mall on Friday from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. and on Saturday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
