Police suspect alcohol was involved in fatal wreck

Metro police are investigating if the driver responsible for a fatal three car wreck Saturday night in west Nashville had been drinking.

The wrecked happened around 8 p.m. on Harding Pike at Brook Hollow Road.

According to police, 34-year-old Mulki Oday was behind the wheel of an Infinity that crossed the center lane into oncoming traffic.

He struck 28-year-old Ernest Adams, who was driving a Honda Accord.

The Infinity and Accord were then struck by the driver of a Ford Taurus, 19-year-old Colby Herbert.

Adams was transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center where he died.

Oday was transported to Vanderbilt with critical injuries.

A three-year-old girl riding in Oday's car in a safety seat was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Herbert was transported to St. Thomas Hospital, also with non-life threatening injuries.

Police are trying to determine why Oday crossed the center turn lane.

Police told Nashville's News 2 there was evidence of alcohol in his car.
