NASHVILLE, Tenn. -
Nashville Mayor Karl Dean announced on Thursday that country music star Vince Gill will serve as the Grand Marshal for the 59th annual Nashville Christmas parade.
The parade and annual lighting of the city Christmas tree at the Public Square Plaza will be held on Friday, December 2.
Gill said he is thrilled to serve as Grand Marshal of the parade.
"I wanted to serve as grand marshal because I just like Mayor Dean. It's that simple. He has been beyond supportive of the music community," said Gill.
This year's theme of the parade is "Christmas Around the World."
