HENDERSONVILLE, Tenn. – The preacher of the young woman accused of killing her newborn twin sons says he has yet to speak with Lindsey Lowe but plans to soon.

Dr. Ron Lowery is the pastor at City Road United Methodist Church where Lowe, her parents, sister and grandmother attend.

Sunday's service at the church was the first since police reported the 25-year-old confessed to giving birth to twins in the bathroom of her parents home, suffocated them to death and then him them in a laundry basket.

"I've spoken to the father today and we're making plans on where things go from here," Lowery told Nashville's News 2.

No one from the family was at Sunday's service but church officials said they are providing group sessions and one-on-one counseling.

"It's our time to just stand strong in a tough time," said Lowery.

He told Nashville's News 2 at one time Lowe was very involved with the church's youth group and went on mission trips to Grundy County.

"She was very active in that mission group and they went to help the worst people there are in terms of their poverty levels their good people but they have huge poverty," Lowery continued.

He said he hasn't seen or spoken to Lowe since the tragic incident but hopes to soon.

"In my mind, the initial thing you do is walk into the room and express in body language acceptance and probably I'll just let her say the first words.  It's very important what are the first words that she wants to say and follow on from that and seek God's guidance on what I share with her," he explained.

A funeral date for the twins has not been set yet, but at the request of Lowe's parents, the night before the funeral a prayer vigil will be held at the church led by Dr. Lowery.

Lowe is scheduled to appear in court Monday morning for a bond hearing.

A preliminary hearing has been set for September 28 at 9 a.m.
