NASHVILLE, Tenn. - More than 100 teams have signed up to participate in the eighth annual Sherry's Run.

This year's event will take place at 8 a.m. Saturday in Lebanon.

The 5K Run/Walk was started in memory of Sherry Whitaker who died of colon cancer in 2004 at the age of 44.

Each year, the event raises money for local cancer patients.

One team, called Rhonda's Rockin' Rascals," has a member traveling more than 4,000 miles for the event.

Suzanne Minert, from Alaska, is participating in honor of her sister, Rhonda, who is battling cancer.

Another team, called "The Tangles Team," will be walking/running in memory of 11-year-old Savannah Hope, from Mt. Juliet, who died of cancer this past March.

It's not late to sign up for this year's Sherry's Run.

You can register at the event site, 623 West Main Street in Lebanon, from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Friday, or on Saturday, before the event begins.
