Harpeth River bridge could honor victim of May flood

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Metro Council will consider honoring the life of one of the victims claimed in the historic May flood at its meeting Tuesday night.

It took five months and a massive search to find the body of Danny Tomlinson.

The 39-year-old died after his car was overtaken by the Harpeth River on Newsom Station Road in Bellevue.

The Metro Council will hold its third and final reading to determine if the bridge on Newsom Station Road over the Harpeth River will be named the Danny Tomlinson Memorial Bridge.

If passed, a sign will also be erected at the site in Tomlinson's honor.
