BLUFF CITY, Tenn. (AP) - A young boy has died in a fire at the mobile home where he lived in Bluff City.

The fire was reported late Sunday morning and authorities said flames were shooting out the window of a bedroom where the two-year-old had been sleeping in a crib, according to The Kingsport Times-News.  The child's name wasn't immediately released.

Sgt. Greg Depew of the Bluff City Fire Department said the boy, his mother and an adult male were in the mobile home when it caught fire.

The adults said they couldn't reach the child because of the rapidly spreading fire. Bluff City Police Officer Lee McLintock received burns on his hands trying to get into the home.

Depew said the origin of the fire isn't known, but officials don't suspect foul play.
