MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – A 17-year-old was found dead in the parking lot of a Murfreesboro car wash Friday night.
Officers responded to the National Car Wash Express located at 2900 South Rutherford Boulevard near the Walmart Supercenter just after 8 p.m.
Murfreesboro police spokesman Kyle Evans said the teen, identified as Kevin Knotts, was found inside a car with at least one gunshot wound to the upper body.
He was transported to Middle Tennessee Medical Center in Murfreesboro where he was pronounced dead.
Jacob Watson arrived at the car wash Friday just as the victim's body was found.
"As we got out I heard people screaming, I went over there and he was bleeding," Watson told Nashville's News 2.
He continued, "I pulled up right as it happened seeing if I could do anything to help but there wasn't. They made me keep my car here because it was in the second stall next to where it happened."
Watson said the victim was seated in the driver's seat and had his foot out the door."There was a girl holding him and he was bleeding all over the place," he added.
Evans said Knotts' death is being investigated as a homicide.
Information about a suspect was not released.
