NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Preparations have begun for Gaylord Opryland Resort and Convention Center's annual Christmas celebration.
In its 28th year, the world-famous A Country Christmas is known for attracting two million visitors each year to its family-friendly shows and activities, as well as its beautiful two million twinkling lights which take the resort employees four months to string.
This year's ICE! exhibit will be themed Merry Madagascar featuring characters from DreamWorks' Madagascar.
Artisans will carve scenes such as Santa and his reindeer crash-landing on the island of Madagascar, and how Marty, Alex, Gloria and Melman hatched their scheme to save Christmas, into two million pounds of ice.
2011 marks the tenth anniversary of the world-famous Radio City Rockettes performing at the Grand Ole Opry House. This year's production will feature brand new scenes and new costumes.
Louise Mandrell will also return to Gaylord Opryland with a brand new show, Louise Mandrell's Christmas Dinner Party.
Additional Christmastime highlights include the new Holly Jolly Town Square, offering visitors a step back in time to a nostalgic 1950s town square; Treasures for the Holidays, a festive craft and gift show; and Christmas cruises aboard the beautiful General Jackson Showboat.
A Country Christmas begins November 18 and continues through January 3, 2012.
