ADAMS, Tenn. – A Montgomery County car salesman died after a 70-foot drop off of a cliff during a mowing accident on Sunday.

Robert Ellis, 60, was cutting his grass when he accidentally drove off the cliff in the backyard of his home on Riverhaven Drive in Adams.

His son noticed he and the mower were missing at around Noon and called his mother.

When Ellis' wife arrived she heard him yelling from the cliff.

Emergency crews were called to the scene and had to rappel down the cliff to get to Ellis.  It took around 30 minutes.

Once they reached Ellis, he became unconscious, according to The Leaf Chronicle.

At that point, EMS canceled LifeFlight transport.  Ellis died a short time later.

He worked as a car salesman for Wyatt-Johnson for 19 years.
