NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Strange noises prompted a north Nashville woman to call 911 early Friday morning and she's lucky she did.
The "popping" noises turned out to be a fire and her phone call to authorities gave firefighters a chance to save her Pecan Street home.
While the woman was on the phone with 911 operators, around 1 a.m., the smoke alarm sounded, alerting her of the fire.
The woman and her son escaped unharmed.
Fire crews limited the damage to the back of the home.
Commanders said an electrical problem in the laundry area may have started the fire.
The home suffered smoke and water damage.
