NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Two burglary suspects are in police custody following a two-vehicle collision Thursday morning south of downtown Nashville.

The crash, involving a stolen black Hummer and another vehicle, was reported around 11 a.m. at the corner of Sidco and Armory drives in the 100 Oaks area.

Two Metro police officers on motorcycle were following the Hummer after spotting the stolen vehicle on Interstate 65 when it wrecked.

Metro police spokesperson Kristin Mumford told Nashville's News 2 it appears the suspect vehicle was attempting to turn at the intersection when it collided with another car.

A woman in the car was transported by ambulance to a local hospital.  Her injuries did not appear to be life-threatening.

A child also in the vehicle at the time was not injured.

Mumford said the suspects, later identified as 20-year-old Jacque Martin and 18-year-old Marquise Rice, tried to run, but were quickly apprehended.

The pair is believed to have burglarized two homes on Creekside Drive, stealing the Hummer and a weapon from the first home, and several electronics, including a computer and a flat screen TV from the other.

The residents of the second burglarized house arrived home shortly after the crime had occurred.

Police took them to the scene of the collision where they identified the computer and TV as their belongings.

The stolen weapon was not immediately located.

Both men are charged with two counts of aggravated burglary, two counts of theft and evading arrest.

Additionally, Rice is charged with vehicle theft and failure to appear on an outstanding misdemeanor drug possession warrant.
