PUTNAM CO. Tenn. – Fire destroyed a two-story log home in western Putnam County near the DeKalb County line early Wednesday morning.

The home, located on Medley Amonette Road near the Happy Hollow access area of Center Hill Lake, served as a vacation home and was unoccupied at the time.

Putnam County fire officials told the Cookeville Herald-Citizen a passerby saw smoke and called 911 around 5:15 a.m.

Firefighters from Putnam, DeKalb and Smith counties and the city of Baxter battled the flames, filling tanker trucks off hydrants in the Silver Point area and pulling water out of the Caney Fork River.

No one was injured.

The cause of the fire was not immediately known.
