MT. PLEASANT, Tenn. – Two teenagers were killed and two others injured in a crash Wednesday evening in Mt. Pleasant involving a car and an 18-wheeler.
According to a report in the Columbia Daily Herald, 17-year-old Sarah Graham and 15-year-old Kyle Tate died in the crash.
Two other teens, Paxton Gilbreath and Ronald Harris, were transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville where they were listed in critical but stable condition.
The paper reported the crash occurred around 5 p.m. at the intersection of First Avenue and U.S. Highway 43 in Mt. Pleasant.
Mt. Pleasant police did not release details surrounding the incident, which remains under investigation.
According to the report, Graham attended Summertown High School where she played basketball for the Lady Eagles.
Tate attended Mt. Pleasant High School where he played on the school's football team.
Gilbreath and Harris are also football players at Mt. Pleasant High School.
The wreck shut down U.S. Highway 43 for several hours Wednesday evening.
