KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - Tennessee coach Holly Warlick believes improving her team's toughness can keep the Lady Vols from peaking too early for a second straight season. The Lady Vols headed into the postseason on a roll in March but couldn't maintain that momentum in the NCAA tournament. They missed the Final Four for a sixth straight season.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - Jacksonville State may be the happiest that Jimmy Garoppolo now is in the NFL. The Gamecocks, who lost the outright league title to Garoppolo and Eastern Illinois last year, are this preseason's favorite in the Ohio Valley Conference.

GREENSBORO, N.C. (AP) - Bobby Petrino turned Louisville into a top-10 team nearly a decade ago. Now, more than two years after a scandal derailed his career, Petrino is back with the Cardinals as they enter the Atlantic Coast Conference. He said Monday at the ACC's preseason media days he'll handle things differently this time around.

ATLANTA (AP) - Garrett Jones drove in two runs with a bases-loaded single in the 10th inning, lifting the Miami Marlins to a 3-1 victory over the Atlanta Braves on Monday night. Bryan Morris stranded two runners in a scoreless ninth. Steve Cishek pitched a perfect 10th inning for his 22nd save.
