(AP) - Senate candidate Alison Lundergan Grimes has released a 30-second TV ad featuring an out-of-work Appalachian coal miner who questions Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell's commitment to job growth. The ad seeks to capitalize on McConnell's off-the-cuff comments to a newspaper in the spring. McConnell says his comments were taken out of context.

BURLINGTON, Ky. (AP) - A special prosecutor has been called in to review the death investigation of a woman shot by a Boone County sheriff's deputy as she left a field party earlier this year. The Commonwealth's Attorney for Carroll, Grant and Owen counties will determine whether Deputy Tyler Brockman should face charges or if a grand jury will decide.

FRANKFORT, Ky. (AP) - Kentucky bourbon makers are churning out larger volumes of whiskey being stored for aging. The Kentucky Distillers' Association says the state's bourbon inventory has topped 5 million barrels for the first time since 1977.
