Mt. Juliet votes to get rid of traffic cameras

Posted:

MT. JULIET, Tenn. – Red light traffic cameras in the city of Mt. Juliet will soon be a thing of the past.

Monday night, the city commission voted not to renew their contract with American Traffic Solutions.

The current agreement ends in January of 2013.

The vote was unanimous with the exception of Commissioner Ted Floyd, who abstained.

Nearly elected Commissioner James Maness was behind the resolution to remove the cameras.

He told Nashville's News 2 that since being elected six months ago he has heard several complaints from motorists concerning the cameras and removing them is among his top priorities.
