NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Metro police say a serial burglar arrested last week has been connected to 52 separate burglary cases in south Nashville. Convicted felon Jerry Brandon Phifer, 32, was arrested last Friday, and he admitted to police that he had broken into dozens of residences in recent months. He rode through neighborhoods with detectives and pointed out homes he had burglarized.Phifer told police that a $500 a day drug habit was what led him to break into the homes and apartments and steal electronics, jewelry, coin collections and other valuable items. A major break came in the case last week when a woman sent a picture to police of a suspicious beige Cadillac in her neighborhood.
Then, other residents spotted the same car and provided more information to police, including the car's license plate number.More than $31,000 in stolen property that Phifer had not yet sold for cash, had been recovered from his Cedarview Drive home and returned to victims.
Phifer is being held in lieu of $150,000 bond on one count of aggravated robbery and four counts of aggravated burglary.Phifer was previously convicted of aggravated assault in 2009, aggravated assault in 1998, 1999 and 2002, as well as facilitation of aggravated assault in 1995.
