Ravenwood students flip car on way to school

BRENTWOOD, Tenn. – Two students at Ravenwood High School in Brentwood were not seriously injured after flipping their car on their way to school Friday morning.

Brentwood police officers on the scene told Nashville's News 2 the teen girls were traveling north in the 1000 block of Waller Road near Concord Road around 7 a.m. when they reported a deer jumped out in front of them.

To avoid the deer, the driver told police she swerved and hit a culvert.  The impact caused the vehicle to roll over and land on its roof in the center of the roadway.

Both girls were wearing their seatbelts and escaped with only a few scratches.

Neither was transported to the hospital.

A tow truck was called to the scene to remove the damaged car.  Crews expected to reopen Waller Road by 8 a.m.

An officer told Nashville's News 2 because the girls never actually hit the deer, its unlikely insurance will pay for the damage to the car.
