Smart phone users take advantage of weather apps

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – More and more people are taking advantage of weather apps to receive the latest weather conditions.

The three most popular apps for cell phone users include Weather Bug, The Weather Channel and Accu Weather.

The Weather Bug app allows users to view clear radar images. It also allows users to view weather cameras in the area and watch weather move into a certain location.

Weather Bug offers users an ad free version of their app for $1.

Jason Carmon from Allium Café told Nashville's News 2 that he usually depends on The Weather Channel app which features a 10 day forecast.

Despite offering a 10 day forecast, the radar images can be hard to decipher.

Accu Weather's app displays severe weather alerts on the screen, rather than having users click to find alerts. The downside to the app is that users have to watch a commercial before even being able to view weather information.

Though each of the apps offer different features, all can be helpful in the event of severe weather.
