COLUMBIA, Tenn. – A Maury County Marine that was injured serving in Afghanistan was taken off of life support.
According a report in the Columbia Daily Herald, Andrew Carpenter, 27, was taken off of life support on Saturday.
The Marine had been hospitalized in Germany since Monday.
Kevin Carpenter told the newspaper his son's spinal cord was severed after a bullet struck him in the neck.
Carpenter graduated from Columbia Central High School in 2002 and was deployed in August 2010. He was expected to return home sometime this spring.
Carpenter's wife Crissie is expected to give birth to a baby boy in two weeks.
