Jonathan Tyler Giles
CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - A former youth minister at a Montgomery County church has pleaded guilty to the statutory rape of a 17-year-old girl.
The Leaf-Chronicle reports Jonathan Tyler Giles is scheduled for sentencing March 10.
Assistant prosecutor John Finklea said Giles admitted performing two sex acts with the girl, who was a member of the church youth group. He said a plea agreement reached with Giles and approved by the court Friday will prevent the victim from having to testify in court.
Investigators have said the relationship began when Giles was a youth minister at Spring Creek Baptist Church.
