Allison Chinchar

Allison Chinchar joined News 2 in January of 2011.

Before Nashville, Allison worked at WTVC in Chattanooga, TN for just under three years. While there, she covered the tornado outbreak on April 24, 2010 which had four separate tornadoes, including one EF3 and one EF4 tornado, two record breaking snowstorms, and the EF2 tornado that crossed the Chickamauga Dam and injured several people.

Allison is no stranger to a variety of weather, but says that winter is her favorite season.

She earned her meteorology degree from The Ohio State University, and also helped establish, along with another fellow meteorology club student, an on air weather program for the student run television station.

She grew up in Ohio, but says she has no real desire to move back, "I have enjoyed not owning a snow shovel for the last few years".

When she is not covering weather, Allison enjoys running (her favorite was the Disney World Half-Marathon), kayaking, and watching just about anything on the History Channel.  She is also an active member of the ASPCA, NWS, and AMS.

Allison also minored in American Sign Language, and enjoyed participating in the local group DEAF Chatt in Chattanooga as often as her crazy schedule would allow.
