Painters needed as Nashville Build continues

Posted:

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - The Nashville Build is now is desperate need of professional painters as work continues on the flood-damaged preschool at Lighthouse Christian School.

Students in kindergarten at Lighthouse Christian School spoke with News 2 Tuesday, and they couldn't believe how fast crews were working.

Destani Gatlin said, "I think they work all day, in the night, and in the dark and all day."

Designer Paul DiMeo told News 2 he constantly has the children in mind during the building process.

"Each time we do something, we're always thinking with these kids in mind, these 140 to 150 preschoolers, so you do something and you say, 'Hey that would be nice to add that, that would be nice to add that!'" DiMeo said.  "In the meantime, our builder is going crazy with that,"

DiMeo said he is excited about how many lives will be affected after this project wraps up.

"We are trying to do something here that touches the lives of so many people.  We're trying to do what we can in our littlest way to help," he said.

The Nashville Build will wrap up this weekend, when the rebuilt school is unveiled.

Volunteer painters are needed to start work immediately.

Volunteers and workers should report directly to the Antioch Community Center, located at 5023 Blue Hole Road.

Workers must wear long pants and closed-toed shoes and are encouraged to bring any tools and/or gear with them.
