Dr. Ruth was born and raised in Gary, Indiana. She attended Vanderbilt University and received her BS in Psychology with a Minor in Pre-Dental. Dr. Ruth continued her education at Meharry Medical College School of Dentistry in Nashville, Tennessee, where she earned her DDS degree. During her studies at Meharry she was the recipient of many honors, including the Pan-Tennessee award, honoring the student with the highest GPA after three years. She was also a member of Omicron Kappa Upsilon and received the Alpha Omega award (highest GPA). Dr. Ruth went on to complete her MDS at the University of Tennessee. She presently teaches part-time at Meharry Medical College, School of Dentistry.
Dr. Ruth is a member of the American Association of Orthodontists, Southern Association of Orthodontists, Nashville Dental Society, Tennessee Dental Association, National Dental Association and the American Dental Association. Dr. Ruth has successfully completed Phase II of the American Board of Orthodontics and is now board certified. She is also published.
During her free time Dr. Ruth enjoys reading, traveling, working with people and exercising. She is also a member of the Music City Chapter of the Links, Inc. She's married to Kevon Edmonds, solo artist and lead singer for the group After 7. You may also be surprised to know that Dr. Ruth herself has created much of the artwork that adorns her office.
