NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Tennessee Highway Patrol said this week it expects State Route 840 to be complete by the fall of 2012.
When finished, the project, which began more than two decades ago, in 1986, will link Dickson County to Williamson County and Williamson County to Wilson County, in a loop to the south of Nashville.
SR-840 will be a 78-miles long complete, connecting I-40 East near Lebanon to I-40 West near Dickson.
Construction has been delayed for various reason including property, environmental and historical site battles.
The final phase of the job will cost $55 million.
TDOT said the road will improve access to communities across Middle Tennessee and create new economic development opportunities.
