A Fairview man was arrested over the weekend after he allegedly pulled a gun on a woman in the parking lot of a Mid-State shopping mall.
Franklin police responded to the parking lot outside the Dillard's at Cool Springs Galleria just after 2 p.m. Saturday after a woman called to say a man had pointed a gun at her allegedly over a parking spot.
The woman, who did not want to be identified, told News 2 she was waiting with her signal on, as a car in front of her pulled out of a spot.
When she pulled in, she realized the man in the car behind her was shouting at her. Then, she said, he pulled his gun.
"He pulled out a weapon, I mean a gun, and cocked it at the window," she recalled. "Oh my god, you know, are you going to shoot me for a parking spot? Are you serious? That's what I was thinking at the moment."
When police arrived, they found Joseph Sepulveda, 29, sitting in his car with a loaded handgun in a holster on his hip.
Sepulveda, who has a Tennessee handgun carry permit, was arrested and charged with aggravated assault.
"He did have a concealed carry permit issued by the state but definitely had no legal right or justification to pull the weapon on this woman," Franklin Police Sgt. Charlie Warner told News 2.
Police said road rage can be more of a problem around the holidays, with agitated drivers all trying to go to the same places.
The woman said the incident will make her rethink how she does her Christmas shopping next season.
"I'm going to rethink it... Online; I'd rather stay at home. Fighting over a parking spot -- it's not worth it," she said.
Sepulveda was booked in the Williamson County jail but has since been released on $2,500 bond.
