FT. CAMPBELL, Ky. - The wife of a Ft. Campbell soldier charged with setting the fire on base last year that killed her two young children has pleaded not guilty.
A judge's order also shows that Billi Jo Smallwood, 35, also pleaded not guilty to a federal charge of attempting to destroy a residential facility for members of the U.S. Army that caused the death of two minors.
The May 2007 fire killed nine-year-old Sam Fagan and two-year-old Rebekah Smallwood.
Her husband, Army Spc. Wayne Smallwood, was injured. The Smallwoods' toddler daughter was not harmed.
Smallwood, who listed no income since being charged, was appointed a federal public defender.
She could face execution or life in prison if convicted.
